Is it a cone zinc that slips over a special nut designed to hold the zinc? Do you have a pic?

Beneteau has them, you have to tell them the size of the shaft (it's metric). I know the 393 and 423 have a 30mm shaft, don't know re 36 but I'm sure you do. Make sure you order a new screw too, I put them in underwater and worry about dropping the screws which I reuse. They're made by a Canadian (Canada Metals) company but very hard to find anywhere. Also the price has gone up double to what they were a few years ago. Have all zincs gone up?

Only slightly. The cheap shaft zincs I use are only up maybe 6%. Since they make them by the boxcar load it's mostly the increase in the meatl price. Anything used in construction is up so zinc is a bit up. Bottom paint has however gone up a lot. Copper prices are not as soft as zinc.

Well Beneteau must be making a killing, I bought a few when I got the boat in 04, they were $10 a piece. Got some more last week, $20 a piece!! Not much you can do about it and it's still better than eating up a prop.

I use zinc in fresh and salt water. Never had a problem in the Great Lakes.

Measure the diameter of your prop shaft. The shaft diameter will correspond with the size prop zinc you need. It is likely that you will need a 30mm zinc. West Marine carries them as does BoatZincs.com.

They might on the west coast but you won't find then in a WM on the east coast. You used to see them once in a while at Boat US but most places don't stock the Beneteau prop zincs. Best bet is to order half a dozen from Beneteau. I tried to get them from Canada Metals, the manufacturer but no luck.

These are not uncommon zincs. If you can't find them locally (hard to believe, considering how many Beneteaus there are around) West Marine sells them online, as do BoatZincs.com, where they go for less than 10 bucks for the 30mm size.

fst,

Don't want to belabour a point but would appreciate a link to WM site with 30mm Beneteau zincs. Went through their whole site, no luck. Would really like to get them for $10, B charges over 20.

Found them on Boatzincs. Under $10. Unfortunately just got 5 from Beneteau. Thanks, I'll know where to get them next time.
