Help needed on old pedestal deck fitting / seal

Hi--

I'm replacing all the control cables in a '74 C&C 35 MK2 and it has a pedestal that has external tubes to run the shift and throttle cables levers, mounted between the cockpit deck and top of the pedestal.

The fitting between the tube and the deck is ovalish plastic fitting with two bolts that go through the deck The fitting is split into two pieces so it can be replaced without removing the tubes. I have a bad pic of them that I'll trying and attach.

Does anyone know where I can find replacements? I've been googling with no luck.

Thanks,
Ron

Woo-hoo, the attachment worked.

If you look at the bottom of pedestal you can see the two stainless tubes and the black plastic fittings. Apologies for the pic quaity, not at the boat and don't have a better pic right now.

Thanks,
Ron

Looks to be an Edson pedestal.
Try their site.
Those don't look to hard to cut out of wood, especially since you have the old ones.
Teak or ironwood, Purple Heart, paint or cetol.

These pieces are called foot guards, by Edson.
If you measure the tube diameter, you may find something at Home Depot, n the plumbing area to retrofit, maybe a base gasket out of sheet rubber.
Just a thought.

You might also look at The seadog marine catalog.
http://www.sea-dog.com/categories/ra...ittings?page=3
Rail base fittings at the bottom of the page, you'll need the tube size, probably 1"
Stanchion bases also may work.

Boatyarddog--

Wow! What a difference it makes to actually know what to call it. I kept looking for 'pedestal deck fittings' or similar variations.

Look like Edson now sells stainless versions and since I'm pulling the tubes, I don't need the 2 piece retrofit style.

Stainless Pedestal Guard Mounting Feet - pair [310ST-100-125] - $71.00 : Edson Marine Store

Thanks for the info, it is appreciated.

1", 2" hole saws and some 1/2 or 3/4" black Starboard. Make them in 10 minutes

I just replaced the ones on my pedestal. The ones Edson sells are SS, and have inserts to fit 3 different sizes of tubing. They also include 3 different lengths of mount studs as well as a couple of different gaskets.

Cool, I just ordered them and hope they will get here by the weekend. BTW, did you use any sealant on the gaskets?
