I'd never turn down an offer to make a passage
on your boat. You have what all intelligent people have: ATD--attention to detail. However, there is a system that works well for me(irrespective of major deconstructive projects): spend half a day on boat projects(when daysailing); half a day sailing
. When we cruised full time for over 10 years, I included some boat work every day . . . even on passages. It might be as small as whipping the ends of a sheet, inspecting cotter pins, adjusting a stuffing box, retorquing hose clamps, etc., but every day something was accomplished. Don't forget why you bought your boat--because you love to sail. Good luck and safe sailing.
