Help for Teak Over Ferrocement Deck

We stupidly decided to fix a leak on the aft deck. When built 35 years ago some genius thought it was a good idea to take a perfectly good FC deck glue untreated plywood on it then put teak over that using hundreds of screws. There also appears to be some sort of epoxy injected into voids. We are removing the teak, replacing ply with pressure treated ply, replacing the teak and then coating with Rustoleum 10X non skid.

I can the the purists screaming already, but the teak is shot beyond salvation and we haven't the money to replace the teak or the time to completely remove it.

Question: is that injected epoxy of any value (between actual deck and pressure treated ply)?

Our plans are to do a proper deck job next year and removing it would make the job that much more difficult.

All I know is that after 2 years of working on this boat I need to go sailing.

Re: Help for Teak Over Ferrocement Deck

if the epoxy is still bonded okay to the cement just fair it and leave it.

if the epoxy is lifting with moisture underneath it,then it will need removing and refairing

a big grinder with a flat pad coarse 40 grit fiber disc is the best tool for doing large areas that need refairing and cleaning up ,wear a dust mask.
