Not sure that I understand the weaving. Are you suggesting say cutting 3mm 3 ply into 25mm strips...or taking a very thin veneer say about 10mm wide and weaving into panels?? Can you elaborate.

I'm thinking wood veneer 1 to 1.5 inches wide and 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch thick. There would be no space in between the slats. And yes weaving them into panels.

Regarding the hull liner fuzzy stuff. If you use it, cut it oversize, once the contact cement attaches you cant move it, then trim to where you want it after with a razor knife.

Almost any finishing material can be applied to thin doorskin veneers, then velcro’d, clipped, or screwed to wood battens on the overhead.

I'm using bead board made of 1/4 inch thick pine. Not predrilled.

Extemporaneous thats very attractive.

I am personally thinking of keeping the overhead white or a light color. Has anybody had a glossy surface and if so was it hard on the eyes or even noticeable.

SkprJohn: Do you mean the paneling made to look like traditional wainscotting? That might be pretty good.
Stevens47: I dont see any problem with either white or glossy white. It should make it feel less "cave-ish" inside. There is a satin finish white formica that you might be able to order bonded to 1/4 ply.... I llined a head with it years ago and it worked out very nice, it looked like a perfect satin paint job and cleaned up real easy! It wasnt a dull flat finish with litle beads in it like a lot of the laminates are now...

i had a boat in which wereplaced carpet squares -- glued to ceilings and overhead and it was soooo ugly i was happy when the moisture of condensation made it peel off in front of my eyes...lol....goood luck--i like the vinyl with foam liner-with the teak strips for hiding seams--isnt going to look crummy unless is moist under/between hull and material.....thenye has a leak...gooood luck....
