I would make a guess that they make a new mold size for N.C. to compete in the rental market for those folks who want a performance sailing catamaran, probably a 3 or 4 stateroom model. I heard the US gov was giving money to help with companies who need to retool ( molds ) to move jobs to the USA. Good for my home state NC getting new jobs.

As I grew up in Western NC I'll take these comments as a complament one of the reasons I left the state to get a job designing nuclear fuel and power plant turbins I still need to ask my wife what that doodad is on our catamaran

I grew up in Fla so I am a Florida cracker. Yeehaw. Anyways, Gunboat says they are hiring although the link just goes to the state employment division.

They aint hillbillys(there 500 miles west and the millbillys are 300 miles west). They are a 400 yr.old fishing and boat building community and Manteo is Part of the outerbanks..DVC

There the North Carolina "Tar Heals" named that from the NC southern army that marched thru the black clay bottomed creeks on there way to fight the lowley yankies in the Carolina flat lands, when they got to the war the wet grass had washed off there feet exect for there black heals.

I'm glad the Gunboat co is building there great performance sail boats in the USA there product will be great as long as they don't import chinese made parts.

The great thing about sailboats is there are hardly any chinese manufacturers for parts. The exception might be electronics and engines. Are some or all products from Raymarine, Furuno, Beta, Volvo, and Yanmar and the rest made in China? I know about Rocna so don't go there.

Used to help build wooden charter fishing boats as a young man (21) and did a little (very)shrimping in the same place as this photo..Had the privilge of working with one of the best boat men in The USA..Capt. Oiome Tillett..He would fish in the Summer and I got to help build the next boat for the season with him ...didnt do much but watch and pass tools but was it a wonderful time of my life and his Boats speak for themselves.....DVC

But why does your info not say your catamaran is a Gunboat ?

Great looking factory location I even saw a blurb on my MSN window this morning about Gunboat's NC move, So can you say " Youall come visit now you hear " or some other sugary sweet southern saying . Having the factory in the USA makes me want a Gunboat that much more, at least we'll be able to visit the factory when we order one and feel lots more comfortable with the sorounding areas, as NC was my home growing up.
