Gulfstar 50 - recommendations for new hatches

Any thoughts on the most appropriate (size and features) replacement hatches for a Gulfstar 50? The current ones sit atop a fiberglass flange. So far I've identified the Lewmar Ocean 70 Flat for the big ones and the Lewmar Ocean 60 Flat for the small ones. Anyone have experience with these? How about the Vetus Magnus series? And does Defender have the best price to buy hatches?

Thanks!

I dont like Lewmar hatches...too many points of failure...too many leak points...always been maintenance issues on any of the boats Ive run. I can get Lewmar wholesale and if buying new hatches I would not buy them.

I would go with a good solid traditional hatch design like Goiot.

Hey~! I saw you were selling the A and H hatches so I assume you found suitable replacements. What did you end up going back with? I have the same type/size hatches and will probably start replacing them one at a time as I move along through the refit.

Lewmar ocean, flat base. I'll post a photo when installed next spring. Atkins and Hoyle replacements were laughably expensive.

Nothing wrong with your choice of hatch but you can't compare an extruded hatch with a cast one. The extruded hatches are much cheaper to build.
