This is what my ground plates (Banten) look like after 3 years.
Should i sand them before we hit the water, or will they work fine like this?

Looks good to me, sanding won't do much more than open the surface if required, they're sintered and get their area from being water permeable. I soak mine with chlorine to get the organic stuff out.

Groundplate maintenance

I just scrub mine with a brush when I’m cleaning the hull.
Being sintered is something that I think works better on paper than on the boat. In other words, I don’t think it matters, but one manufacturer went that way, claimed superiority, and the others had to follow suit I guess.
