Groit (sp) hatches - replacements- French boat

I am probably spelling this wrong since nothing comes up on Google but this weekend, we broke another handle on our Groit hatches. The hatches are great but I suspect that after 27 years, the UV has taken it's toll. I am a bit nervous as there are 14 handles total on the boat. Can someone point me in the correct direction for replacements?

Those were well made hatches, solid cast compared to today's extruded types.

Re: Groit (sp) hatches - replacements- French boat

I bought a used Goiot hatch for my refit and it came without the inside handles. I called Goiot in France for some replacements and they quoted me $1,000 EACH!!
I got on the web and found an industrial supply(now forgotten-sorry) and bought two nice chromeplated bronze handles that I drilled out with a metric bit to fit the actuating rods and got it all done for about $40.
I have had Goiot hatches quoted to me wholesale at about $5000 each. Either their pricing is ridiculous (probably) or their sales department has confused the Euro/dollar conversion ( unlikely).
Better make your own.

Uncivilized - yes, once I had the spelling correct, I searched all these sites and found pricing extremely high and quite variable.

Budget Marine had the best cost by far (reasonable) but their PN was different. I have sent them an email asking to confirm and any issues to ship to the US.
If this does not work out, i am seriously considering to build a mold in China and mold 100 of each. I am pretty sure I could make them stronger and maybe less than $40 each with the mold amortized. Anybody need a few?

It is indeed 'GOIOT'

and depending on which hatch, I might be interested in handles, although mine are hanging in there

pic, perhaps?
thx

Hi,
I have purchased GOIOT hatch locking handles from Select Plastics in Norwalk, CT, USA. Make sure you specify RH or LH. In 2014 the cost was around $60.00USD each, great service.
You can find them at selectplastics.com
Saludos,
Allan

Budget Marine - Yes, great pricing. Sent them an email and no reply.
I took off a good handle and designing in 3D CAD now and will get a price to have a mold made in China and evaluate to mold my own.

Did you ever do this? I'm refurbishing 5 Goiot Tradition 50.50 hatches. I've had replacement lenses made locally (Tampa, FL) for $70 each vs $329 quoted by Rig-Rite, and there were several local shops capable of making them at that price. I'd love to replace all the handles outright, but the cost of the handles...
