Gorilla-Tape Glue. How to remove?

Hi all.

I used Gorilla Tape to seal some leaking windows, before I left the boat. Now after removing the tape a lot of glue sticks on the gel coat and on the window.See the picture.

Any suggestions how to remove it. I can't use aceton, because of the window.

Thanks

Re: Gorilla-Tape Glue. How to remove?

You might try WD-40. I have used it on glue residue in the past and it worked great. I just sprayed it on and let it sit for about 5 minutes. It's certainly easy to try on a small area.

Have you tried mineral spirits?

Best of luck, that is some REALLY strong adhesive they use.

Goof-Off too, buy at local Home improvement store or Amazon.
Usually though WD-40 works well and is the safest and least offensive

Mineral turps and fingernails.

Soak with turps, then rub softly with a soft rag.

It is a process.

I was going to say "First Find a Gorilla". But OK, wd40 or other solvents might work better.

Re: Gorilla-Tape Glue. How to remove?

Just be careful with the chemicals you use on your windows - if they are acrylic they will be damaged.

Try some Goo-Gone, that'll probably take it off. If you need something stronger, there is a 3M product called "General Purpose Adhesive Remover" - it's really just cigarette lighter fluid.

Thanks to all replies.
Does WD40 harm acrylic? The window is the problem not the gel coat.

... WD-40 Multi-Use Product can be used on just about everything. It is safe to use on metal, rubber, wood and plastic. It can also be applied to painted metal surfaces without harming the paint.
Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40 Multi-Use Product ...

I used WD-40 to take gorilla tape glue off of an acrylic hatch that I had taped for the same reason. It's been 3 weeks now and I can't see any ill effects.

Re: Gorilla-Tape Glue. How to remove?

Gorilla Tape recommends mineral spirits (safe on acrylic) for removing glue residue.

Re: Gorilla-Tape Glue. How to remove?

I've done the same using mineral spirits or paint thinner on gorilla tape residue. Nothing else works.
