Re: Good , Cheap LED Cabin Lighting

The reason I used the 1156 truck bulbs were,
Had them already,
Last forever,
No alleged noise,
And the RED ones put out a lot of light

Had 187 LED's on the tractor and 97 on the trailer.
Lights were on 20 hours a day for 5 yrs with only 1 that quit working

I didn't want to buy all new fixtures (Too $$$$) but found I could convert all my existing fixtures with very cheap LED's from Ikea. Link to an article showing what I did and what it cost

Dang, I wish I had seen these before I replaced my bulbs. There the same price.

Warm White is IMO mandatory. I purchased a few regulars and ended up pulling them out. The WW is basically the same color as a halo.

Re: Good , Cheap LED Cabin Lighting

I have given up on LEDs for the time being. Instead, we are using HF fluorescents, warm, via an inverter. Same lumens / Watts third of the price and available from any local home appliances store.

But I will have to go for LEDs into our NAV lights anyway. A BAY 15 replacement here (Spain) stand at 50 USD ;-(((

Re: Good , Cheap LED Cabin Lighting

I like the LED strips, eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
Not the cheapest but very easy to mount over the galley or chart table and plenty light.

And found a use for that paraffin anchor light which never stayed lit for more than 5 minutes.,.
