Getting Rust Stains out of Fiberglass

I have some rust that has leached onto the fiberglass from some of my stainless on the deck. Does anyone know of a product that will get the rust out?

Starbrite works okay...
But then so does a 50/50 mix of mild bleach and white vinegar... just stay upwind..

If you go to the HMP web site (just google it). He has a cleaner gel that is amazing. It takes rust stains out like nothing. We had a box of screws fall on the cockpit sole in a storm and had about 60 or so rust stains that looked like screws UGLEY.
You put this blue gel let it sit for 2 min brush lightly with a toothbrush rinse and its gone. I think it about $15 CAD. You only need a little bit and it lasts forever. I've had mine for about 10 years. IT'S THE BEST
I will be at the boat tomorrow and will get the name for you.

As Zee has recommended Barkeepers Friend. It's oxalic acid in powder form, very economical, under two bucks at Walmart or Publix.

Whink Rust Stain Remover, works like magic. Squirt it on and rust stains just disapear. It's available in grocery stores, hardware stores and good marine stores.
The active ingrediant is hydrofloric acid.

.....Hydrofloric, Phosphoric, Oxalic, Muratic......any of these. It's the "acid" low pH that does the trick. I rather use the Oxalic acid wash, but they're all pretty much the same.

Re: Getting Rust Stains out of Fiberglass

Coca Cola contains phosphoric acid and lemon juice has citric acid......all the acids do the job. I suppose the choice is to be made with what is less expensive, less harmful to the environment and less harmful to the boat yet strong enough to remove the rust.

FSR worked for us when a nearby welder left tiny steel shavings all over our boat. It might be the same stuff as mentioned above but priced for marine use, but it worked for us.

Good ol' Ospho. Great for general brightening up topside, too. Just spray it on, brush it around a little, let it stand, then hose/brush it off after a few hours. Repeat as necessary.
