I loosened off on the genoa halyard when the sail was fully unfurled so the shackle on the tack at the bottom swivel is just a little loose. It seems to be better, but I have more testing to do to be certain and will give another update later on.

The bolt rope slides easily in the foil, so there is nothing binding up there.

After more sailing, loosening off a little on the genoa halyard as noted above, seems to have done the job and the genoa is unfurling now like it should.

I'm glad to say this problem has been solved and I learned a bit along the way as well.

Thanks everyone for your input and responses.

I went through the same experience myself. Those of us who learned to sail with hank on jibs were taught to have a tight jib harlyard. They even put a winch right on the mast to get that halyard tight. Bunching of the sail around the hanks was an embarrassment. So to go from very tight halyard to a slack halyard takes a bit of mental adjustment.

I also learned that the easy way to furl a jib in a big wind when the furler is jammed...is to go in tight circles under power, and let the wind do the work.

Glad it's fixed, and a cheap fix.

What I do is once the sail is unfurled, is to tighten the halyard up, helps with pointing, then slack off again before furling. Couple of marks on the headsail halyard at the jammer will help.
