Re: Gelcoat guy recommendation, Victoria BC

Just a quick follow-up: Paul Bates did not leave a good impression with me and he resorted to insults when I let him know that I was no longer interested. Definitively not cool !
I decided to let the boat yard handle some of my gelcoat repairs and will deal with some others myself.

I know its a bit far but you could try Extreme Fibreglass in Nanaimo, the owner did a couple of jobs on my last boat, Catlina 30, including quite a few gel coat repairs. By the time he finished it looked like a new boat and you couldnt see where the repairs were carried out. He wokks out of the Newcastle boat yard

Hey, Paul Bates here! I politely emailed you to say that I had a family emergency and was unable to give you a quote that day. Subsequently; I spent an hour and a half dealing with your boat and travel time and 1/2 hour conversation with you on the phone, no problem with the job was foreseen. Gave you a fair price and you have decided to get the job done elsewhere and that is cool with us. Let me know if you need anything else, and we can talk directly, and not in a public forum. Best Regards, Paul Bates, Owner Operator

I stand by my earlier post and am more than happy to explain the details and my reasoning to anybody that wants to decide if my impression was fair or not (only via pm though).
