Fusion 40 Catamaran - Choosing the Right Rig

Hi all,

I decide to buy a Fusion 40 kit catamaran and I will build it in a shipyard in Thailand (SERENITY SHIPYARD LTD).
I spoke with the yard and we decide to to order the rig from Allyacht Australia, I already contact them and they send me some photos and other information and now is time for me to decide, also I did ask them to make two modification:

1 – Everything back around the cockpit
2 – Single line reefing (which is to able to take 2 reef without having to go at the mast step

This set up the most efficient when sailing with minimum crew I understand and need at least one electric winch for the mainsail halyard which is also use for the reef.

There are some optional components and I need to chose some

OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTION

THANK YOU ALL

Re: Fusion 40 Catamaran - Choosing the Right Rig

Hi Drifter80
I'm in a similar situation now, looking at embarking on a Fusion 40. I am an absolute Newby to sailing, having never sailed before. I am looking for single hand / short hand cruising, definitely not racing.
I am trying to put together a specification for rigging, but quite honestly don't have a clue. Is there anything that you can recommend to me from your experience that will help me prepare a spec?
I hope to learn on the Fusion with no great surprises.

thanks

One suggestion is to not run the reefing line through a cringle - that will cause chafe. Instead, mount a block on the cringle (put a D-ring in it) and run the line through it.

Re: Fusion 40 Catamaran - Choosing the Right Rig

Are you ordering the rig with 2 winches attached to your mast (page 2)? You want all lines to the cockpit and all winches there. Those new reversing winches are really cool. I wonder how well they work?
