Fujifilm Duplex antifoul paint

I've just heard about this product and was wondering if anyone has tried it.
The US Navy has some interest in it, may even hold the patent, but it seems to provide a slippery surface that is easily wiped clean, and in fact self cleans with enough speed, and lasts for around 5 years.

sounds like it is the same as sigmaglide,save your money and use some pettit tropicoat,copperbased anti fouling,should go on top of your existing af,without needing to spend the $10,000 to use the other stuff.

Don't believe Tropicoat is available in the U.S. I've never come across it and it doesn't seem to be listed on their web site.

It sounds like they have plans to make the product affordable to the average boat owner.
Assuming that is the case, does anyone have any experience with it?

sy gilana had the sigmaglide on his boat for 6 years,but changed back to conventional af,might be worth a pm.

the petitt stuff is available in the carib,as is seahawk 44 ,and labour,haulout etc is cheaper in the islands.

another thing with the silicon stuff is that it is reccomended to use a railway,and not a travel lift,due to the slipperyness of the stuff and possible damage to the surface from slings.

Jst saw your post.Sherwin Williams makes a like product.I,was quoted appx 400.00 to apply tp a 38 ft full keel sailboat.Must be sprayed on.I,did some research and spoke with Sherwin Williams about it,from what I,understand the vessell needs regular use to remove fowling and a speed of a least 8 kts to be totally effective.I,was also told at lower speeds most fowling groth would come off,but longg periods of sitting was not good.

I think he may have been looking at the Sher-Release coating.

This is a "foul release" coating, of which there a few other examples available to the recreational market with the Interlux Intersleek 900 system probably being the most well known.

This type of anti fouling has not gained wide usage in the recreational market due to high cost, difficut application and extreme fragility of the coating. Not saying this applies to either of the other products mentioned in this thread, however.

not what vic is refering to,
this is a conventional ablative paint,but metal free,biocide type paint.

the coating in question is silicone,and requires the hull taken back to primer or gelcoat, when i costed sigmaglide for my aluminium 63 ft,75 m2 hull the cost was in the region of £6000, or $9000-10000,with a life of about 6 years,for the paint alone,without labour.

Personally, I'd like to see a non-stick type paint come into service. But the two problems as mentioned above is getting it to stick to the hull. And keeping straps from slipping off, which belly straps would solve. If'n I could only get the formula for the non-sitick frying pan coatings. Problem is it needs to be baked on. Would be great for prop and shaft. Just need a good chemist to change that.
