Fridge / Freezer re paint

Fellow Cruisers, wishing you a Merry Christmas,

I just registered and would very much appreciate if there is anybody out there who could help me out.

I am re doing the refrigeration on my boat and would like to know what paint to use for the interior of both the frige and freezer.

They are both glass fiber and are currently coated with a 2 component glossy kind of paint that is flaking badly.

What would be the best and most durable paint or coating i could use for this purpose.

we repainted ours with AwlGrip a few years back and it is holding up just fine. had to let it set a while to get rid of the vapors and after smell.

There are "food grade" epoxy paints you can get. Since yours peeled off the original preparation was probably not done properly. Getting the rest of it off or at least mostly off would be a good start. If it is coming off now it won't stop when you cover over it.

AwlGrip has the distinction of being an exceptionally hard finish and durable. Given the size of a fridge the cost of the paint is almost pointless. Being able to buy a small enough quantity might be the way to save the most money. As with all painting the preparation is everything. Proper conditions for humidity and a breathing mask is a good idea when using two part paints in closed spaces. They can make you goofy.
