Force 10 oven question

Hi

During a clean of our force 10 oven , we noticed a 15 to 20mm gap running along between the bottom of the oven and the back wall of the oven. We have never noticed this before, but then again we have never really given the oven a good clean before!!!😃

The walls and bottom plate are not warped and nothing seems to be missing or moved, can anyone confirm if their force 10 oven has this gap too? Is it a ventilation gap, if so surely heat will be escaping from the oven when ever it is in use?

Here is a pic showing a match box in the gap.

Re: Force 10 oven question

There is no gap in mine but along the back wall there are large (1 X 1/4") slots that amount to the same thing.

Re: Force 10 oven question

We have a 25 year old one, and it's got places for air to get in all over the place. I think open flames need a lot of O2.

Re: Force 10 oven question

Ours is less than 5 years old and has large ventilation slots near the burner, as well as a vent out the top.
No different than a home gas oven, the flame needs air.

Re: Force 10 oven question

Ours is 12 years old and has the same gap at the bottom. This is normal and where the oven draws air from. Heat rises so you shouldn't be losing any from the gap.

Re: Force 10 oven question

Thanks everyone for the info, puts my mind at rest! I never noticed the gap before is all.

Our force 10 is 23 years old and still going strong! If only all boat fittings lasted that well!

Cheers

Charlie.

Just a note... I just bought a used Force 10 to replace my Kero stove and it was missing the brackets. I ended up calling Force 10 direct. Not only did they have the brackets to sell at a very reasonable price, but the gentleman on the phone was super patient and very knowledgeable answering other questions.

It's nice to find such good customer service and support these days.
