Fiberglass repair

Hi, can anyone recommend a good book on fiberglass repair on sailboats? I'm looking for something that focuses on fiberglass repair not general sailboat repair. Thanks

We$t Marine has an OK video they $ell. Jamestown distributors has many how-to videos.


I use only US Composites 635 THIN resin 2:1 for all builds & repairs now. We$t is both expensive and has amine blush to deal with. Wet-out is not great. 635 THIN gives fantastic wet-out and a working pot life of over an hour or more. Many fillers available as well as glass and carbon fiber. They also have videos. Fiberglass , Epoxy , Composites, Carbon Fiber - U.S. Composites, Inc.


You could also 'apprentice' with a shop that does repairs.

West has quite a bit of good information on their web site. I'm sure there are others as Nicholson58 points out. West also has books (a book?). I'm not sure if they are downloadable or not.

Check out the videos from Boatworks Today. Very detailed and he covers almost every project you are likely to do. Way better than any book.

Ditto to rain dog, that is a great site. The book at my library is Fiberglass Boat Repairs Illustrated, pretty specific.

West systems put out a pamphlet with 40 pages or so to give you an idea how to repair decks ,hulls, cored decks and ect.
Also, Don Casey's Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair is very good. ISBN 0-07-013369-7.
Maybe in your local library.

Boat works videos on you tube may help.
