Exhaust

Hello guys and thanks for help with queries in the past.
I'm restoring a Seamaster 27 motor cruiser. The exhaust outlet is on the stern. The previous owners just had a length of steel exhaust pipe going through the stern. I've bought a proper fitting and here's my query: Can I change the exhaust outlet from the stern to the side?

Re: Exhaust

Not sure why you want to change, but consider:
When the boat heels, the outlet could be underwater.
If it is high enough not to be submerged, the wind could blow the exhaust to the cockpit or inside the boat or it could be noisier because it will be right beside the cockpit.
The muffler needs to be large enough to "receive" the standing hose water when the boat is heeled the other way.
