Epoxy brand for storing aboard

Black & white spoons? They sound like plastic to me. As I was not born with a silver spoon I will settle for stainless. One has to try and maintain standards!

Mas is in plastic jug and 2:1 is simpler to mix without trouble some pumps. Widely avbl too it seams.

West SIX10 It comes in calking style Cartridges for under $4 each Self mixing so you need nothing else but a calk gun They have their own mixing nozzle. Tube stays active for about 40 minutes Grab a fistull of SIX10 cartridges and you are good to go.

Yes but those are already thickened so not universal use and not first choice for me. I keep resin, slow hardener (in the tropics), most fillers and some fiberglass aboard. I like West System because it is easy to order from their large collection of materials.

Gflex also comes in plastic squeeze bottles. Just used some yesterday (for my first ever epoxy project!) and it was very convenient and quite simple.
Is there a similar discussion about the best way to keep solvent? The MEK I used for my Hypalon dinghy repair has a bit of a rusty canister ...

Where do you buy?

I have paid >$22 for the 190ml cardridges West SIX10. The mixing tips are about $4 for two. Also, the cardridges look like 10oz but they only filled to ~6.5oz (190ml)....

I'd like to know where these prices come from. I pay roughly $20 for a tube.....needless to say it needs to be a very special project for me to use this convienence.

I like West system because the containers are plastic, so they don't rust.


Don't bother with the pumps though.


Use scales for mixing epoxy. It's supposed to be mixed by weight. The pumps give only an approximate mix. Generally good enough, but scales, cheap digital kitchen scales, are much more accurate. And cheaper than the pumps anyway.

While I agree that the Six10 is not useful for everything, I do find that it saves me so much time and hassle that it is often worth the price. However, it should be noted that our most frequent use of epoxy is for overdrill and fill, or even just filling old screw holes in the liner. Therefore, we like the pressure that you can achieve with the caulking gun. And our one attempt at using the fill yourself caulking tube was a disaster. It all came out around the plug, rather than through the front.

I wish it were only $4 a tube, but I suspect that is the additional mixing needle price. I wish it came with two. If that poster comes back with a source for $4, I bet there will be run on it!

West system sells syringes that work very well and are re-usable as is. Just let the left-over cure in the syringe and then quickly pull it out
