Endeavour 43 owners - Fuel Tank Replacement Ideas

Searching this forum I found a few dated responses to this problem. Has anybody done this job and how did you go about it. The problem of course is the companionway being too small to fit the current sized tank. Logic would dictate two smaller replacement tanks, which would fit the companionway, plumbed together. OR cut the old one out and build in place a replacement tank. And yes I've seen the thread regarding the aviation tank sealant. Thanks for any suggestions.
