earth plates

Hi all,anyone got any ideas how to stop earth plates to get covered in barnacles,as they are not to be antifould as the rest of under water hull?

I'm so bummed out, I saw the topic and thought it was going to be a question about tectonic plates!

Regardless I have heard using a Zinc Cream works but would likely also reduce connectivity with the seawater making them less effective.
