Dumb Bimini Waterproof Question

Has anyone waterproofed their bimini from the inside? Last time I waterproofed the bimini from above, I almost fell through it twice. It would also solve the problem of locking in dirt. I'm wondering what would be the downside of spraying the bottom of the bimini? Thanks!

Re: Dumb Bimini Waterproof Question

Take it off and hose and wash it off. Let it air dry and then waterproof with several light coats let dry and reinstall.

I would think applying it from the bottom would while not protect the fabric as well. I'm not sure of the "wicking" factor of the material to draw the water proofer to cover the top. Just my thoughts on it.

Re: Dumb Bimini Waterproof Question

It's like sealing the INSIDE of chainplates, it lets the water get through the deck, which is NOT what you want to do.

Either take it off, or get something to spread the waterproofing, which usually comes in a spray can anyway.

Sunbrella's website has very good cleaning instructions.

The waterproofing instructions are on the can it came in.

Good luck.

Re: Dumb Bimini Waterproof Question

Thanks everyone, I took it off and sprayed it after a good cleaning. Not sure why I didn't think of that....
