Duck tape on deck
So I secured an item that I was repairing with duck tape on the deck Andover some stainless. Took it off a few days later. Now have the glue from the duck tape to remove. Any suggestions?

Does this work on the lexan without clouding it? I had to temporarily fix a leak on a polycarbonate window with duct tape last season and have the ugly residue to deal with.
For the OP's stainless or FG I would just try solvents you have available on site, acetone or such. For lexan that's not an option. Would be really interested to find a solution also.

Re: Duck tape on deck
3m adhesive remover sounds promising, although probably not available in Grenada.

Re: Duck tape on deck
WD-40 will dissolve the glue without damaging the plastic.
Also works great to clean up recent Sikaflex or similar.

Re: Duck tape on deck
WD-40, shouldn't hurt anything, I'd test it on the lexan to be sure though.
Soap and water to clean off the WD.

Re: Duck tape on deck
Another product is Goo Gone, I have used this with success also. There are also citrus based cleaner/removers...sorry have not tried them.
I do not have experience using either on Lexan as I use plexiglass. I took blue tape off hatch lens with 3m and used soapy water immediately...no more crazing than the rest of lens over time.
3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner #08984.

I use WD40 for duct tape glue as well.

If you get clouding...the headlight repair kits have a wipe on clear coating...just a thought...guaranteed for life too! Lol...

Re: Duck tape on deck
When Lexan sheet is first installed, glazing compound and masking paper adhesive can be easily removed by applying naphtha (VM &P) or kerosene with a soft cloth, followed immediately with a thorough soap and water cleaning. DO NOT USE GASOLINE. Adherence to regular and proper cleaning procedures is recommended to preserve appearance.

VM&P Naphtha stands for “Varnish Makers and Painter,” and is a petroleum solvent similar in strength to mineral spirits (paint thinner).
