Dry Storage and repair facilities in Southern California

Has anyone got any information on cost of dry storage for a 46' sailboat with or without repair facilities? Thanks, Marg

Catalina Yacht Anchorage in Channel Islands Harbor is a good bet. Their new travel-lift will easily accommodate you. Ventura Boatyard is very repair friendly.

I just got a quote of $200 per week at the Santa Barbara yard for a 40'er. I think that's high. That's after a $350 each way trip in the lift.

The Ventura Boatyard is willing to do a lift and hang for survey for under $200. I'll have more pricing info on Monday, as I'm going to need the same a you this winter (hopefully).

the san carlos guaymas yard is less than 200 for haul, and 125 per MONTH for 40 FT boat--you can do own work, and isnt bad if ye can get her there...

That's great. Unfortunately I'm averaging over 100 hours per week down at the salt mine, so the opportunity cost is enormous. This time of plenty wont last forever, so San Carlos will have to wait.

Until then you'll just have to enjoy it for me.

Is it safe to leave her on the hard there? I've been kicking around a multi-part trip that would involve storage for a spell.

Marg-

There was a reasonably inexpensive storage yard at the end of one of the ship channels in San Pedro several years ago and I suspect it may still be there. One reached it by going up the Channel west of the Port of Long Beach. You might track down its location with Google Earth and, potentially, name and telephone number off an entry sign with Googles "Street View".

FWIW...

Thanks for all the tips, I will check out San Carlos Guaymas in Mexico. Do you happen to know if there are any good fibreglass guys at this location? I will also see if I can get info on the San Pedro ship channel storage. Any further info regarding the yards around Santa Barbara, Channel Islands would be great. As a Canadian will little knowlegde of the south west part of the USA and Mexico it all helps.
