Are you sure the quadrant is a problem? They are bare aluminum so can look pretty yucky, but not necessarily badly corroded...?
Anyway... if it is heavily corroded (ie: some of the aluminum has disappeared) then you possibly have a leak coming up thru the shaft/tube. (is that possible on a Cat 30?) so may need to investigate that also.
