Dickinson Chesapeake ii heater troubleshooting

Hi all, i am trying to get the diesel heater on my recently acquired C&C 27 up and running. My issue is i can't seem to get any diesel into the combustion chamber of the heater. From the small amounts of information available it seems like i would open the little valve where the diesel fluid is fed from the tank then turn the valve/flame knob to fully open and wait for a few teaspoons of diesel to fill the chamber. After opening the valves there appears to be no liquid entering the heater.. i noticed the gravity fed tank is mounted at about the same height as the heater which seems too low.. however the unit has obvious signs of use so i imagine its worked for somebody. Any advice or procedures to recommend? thanks !

Re: Dickinson Chesapeake ii heater troubleshooting

Im shure you have downloaded the manual from The dickenson page.

Does your et up have the inline pump? If it does head pressure isnt the issue.

Id take apart and clean all the fittings between the fuel tank and the metering valve

If the metering valve sat for ages, you may need to rebuild or replace. You can get the parts or a new valve from dickenson. When I spoke to them they said if it had sit for any length of time just replace. It wasnt that expensive,
