D.I.Y. Modified

What's your favourite modification or tweak you have done to your boat and why? It could be anything from a cup holder to an ironing board. Go!

Re: D.I.Y. Modified

Look closely at the photo attached, my favourite mod on our summer flotilla boat was an out side shower with a difference. It is a hose pipe attached to the shrouds with a plug in the top and lots of small holes down it. Walm pressure shower that you don't have to hold above your head.

Re: D.I.Y. Modified

Probably replacing the carpet with synthetic teak and holly. It's individual strips.

A heater that uses waste heat from the engine.

A professional grade helm chair. I have spent a 13 hour day in it...no backache.

Re: D.I.Y. Modified

My favorite mod can't be seen, it was the replacement of all the fresh water delivery lines onboard. What prompted the water line replacement was a refurb of the head with fresh paint and trim, rebuilding the vanity, and replacing the marine toilet with a urine separating compost toilet...

Re: D.I.Y. Modified

The stock salon table on my Catalina 28 was huge (and pretty ugly). I reused the hardware and fiddles on a smaller mahogony tabletop that was a weekend project. Picture shows the new table on top of the old formica version.
The smaller table makes it much easier to get around the cabin, no downside to reducing the size either.
