Couper and engine location

Is there a minimum distance between the bottom of the engine (..oil pan) and the hull?

Also... I am putting in a new coupler on a 1.25 inch shaft and was wondering about applying marine grease to the inside of the coupler. I had heard some petroleum products have a bad effect on some metals. thanks...

Lastly: What would be the minimum length of hose to connect the stern tube to the stuffing box?

The distance between the bottom of the motor and hull is just so the motor can move around, while running, and not hit the hull. But the more room you have the better for doing work and clean up around the motor .

A very light coat of lithium grease between the couplers will help to keep out corrosion. Or spray on WD-40 afterwards and wipe up after first run.

The stern tube hose only needs to be long enough to get two or three hose clamps on both ends.
