I too would like to see some cork sole pictures. I have a lot of it and some painted plywood soles that could use something. I was planning on using it on a bulkhead in the head.

What kind of varnish did you use Atoll?

isocyanate PU 2 pack varnish would be my recommendation if it is cold and damp in your location,but normal marine varnish thinned 30% for the first few coats works well,4-6 coats will give a durable finish,then a coat every year or so for maintenance.

Does the varnish make it slippery and if so what can be done to make the deck more grippy? We have been considering this for our aft deck and sugar scoop stairs.

I would not use cork for outside as it is not that durable,better would be treadmaster or teak

The rolled underlayment has a peal and stick backing to it, and cushions the cork panel so it has some give and does not move. Here are a few picks while the boat was under construction.

This was a floating, non glued down install.

Don't speak like that. I used it the glue battens to a block building and hung cedar siding on the battens. Oh well, that was 30 yrs. ago.
Probably depends on the application. I believe they make several types for varying applications.

Sorry, not a link expert. The link is to a company named Marinedeck that produces a compressed cork product that they claim has superior attributes. They have photos of extensive use on decks. Supposedly lighter and cooler than teak.

that is basically what treadmaster is, but its properties to cork in tile form or on the roll are very different due to the high content of "synthetic binder",good product, though not the same animal as cork flooring for interior domestic type use
