Looks good. Anyone with longer term real world experience with Coppercoat?

Yeah, with what you spent on that stuff, I wouldn't want anybody raining on my parade either. But good luck with it. Hope it works out for you.

Yes, I applied it maybe 8+ years back; didn't splash for 4 years so I am in the 5th year of immersion.
So far so good, still working.
I hauled around 1 year after immersion and again a year later. The second haulout required a good water blast to remove heavy slime etc.
Haven't need to haul now for 2+ years and there is only a small amount of slime although I will haul within the next 6 months or so anyway.
I am in cold water in a low fouling area.
I would be very hesitant to use it in tropical areas.

Re: Coppercoat Application
I'm doing a copper bottom, not Coppercoat. Home made brew. It is free so I'm going to give it a shot. I think the cost of not hauling the boat every 3-4 years will more than pay for a CopperCoat system, even if it may require a dive scrub 1 or twice a year. Especially on a 47 foot boat like I have.
Looks good Shamrock, looks to be nice a smooth. Have you sanded it yet? I will be waiting for the update in Nov. I'll post pictures of mine when its done on here too, so we can compare down the road. Should be getting applied within the month.

Re: Coppercoat Application
I finished my copper epoxy antifouling last Wed. It's NOT CopperCoat, it's a copper powder mixed with MAS epoxy and applied in batches. I still need to paint under the stands and keel, the burnish it with some 280 or 320 grit paper or a nice scotch pad.
Here is some pictures during the process
And this is finished product after tape removal.
Here is a short video of us mixing the copper powder into the epoxy

Re: Coppercoat Application
BoatyardBoy,
Is your copper /epoxy method something that you had seen done before? How do you know it will work? It really looks great. Keep us posted. What was your mix ratio?

Re: Coppercoat Application
I wish you better luck with the copper/epoxy bottom coating than I had with two boats, one sail and the other power. The copper needs to be burnished several times during the year to maintain the product in top performance. The sailboat's copper bottom was so much work that I finally painted over it, finding that ablative paint to be much less work than the constant cleaning and burnishing required of the copper/epoxy application.
The power boat caught fire and burned before I could properly evaluate its performance with that application. Perhaps it was the sea gods doing me a favor.
Good luck!

Re: Coppercoat Application
Where did this idea of a copper bottom being such a good thing come from? Stuff grows on copper like crazy. Old wood ships had copper bottoms to stave off worms and maybe hard growth, not slime, sea weed etc. etc.
I think before you go to such great length you should drop a strip of copper over the side on a bit of line and watch how quickly stuff grows on it.
