Condensation underside mattress

Hey guys,

As you know, us humans tend to lose quite a bit of moisture overnight as we sleep. Some of it can be found under our mattresses every morning as we lift them to air them. I know there exist some kind of material that you can put under the mattress to increase air circulation and decrease the condensation, but I can't source any locally. The stuff I can find seems to cost more than what I paid for all new mattresses and upholstery...

What do you guys use? What materials could I use for this purpose?

Thanks!

Have a look at gravel matting - used to keep gravel on your drive in place - it will hold the mattress clear of the bed and allow air circulation.

Big bonus it is by FAR cheaper that any "Marine" solution.

Use the word marine and add a nought to the price seems to be the norm.

This stuff is a little pricey but we used a very similar (perhaps even the same) material on a boat years ago and it worked very well. I think when we purchased it they called it something different but it looks identical to me.

Re: Condensation underside mattress

Also just chucking some insulating camping matt closed cell foam under the mattress can help stop the moisture building up in the first place. It still needs airing, but not as often. Try a small patch and see how it goes. Ive also used tube matting before.

Take a look at Stuc-o-Flex Waterway rainscreen. Very cost effective solution available in a number of thicknesses depending on what you think you need.

If so had it in my last boat on the deck, was great to keep dive tanks from beating up the floor, never thought to put it under my mattress.

Hypervent works for me. Mine has been fitted for two years without any problems.

Re: Condensation underside mattress

We had a similar issue with condensation and ended up using the hole saw to cut approx. 20 2" holes in the plywood mattress base. Dry as a bone ever since, and that includes through two very miserable and damp UK winters.

I used plastic lattice fencing from HD or Lowes on the last 2 boats, cheap & works for me!
