Cleaning Oil-Contaminated Boats

In the wake of what could be the largest oil spill in U.S. history, yacht paint manufacturers Interlux and Awlgrip have the following tips to help clean contaminated boats.
For more see full article at Good Old Boat - June 2010 Newsletter about 1/3rd of the way down the page.

"It is not so much for its beauty that the Sea makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from the waves, that so wonderfully renews a weary spirit."

I suffered through two crude oil spills on S.F. Bay back in the 70's.
We were actually using Go-jo biodegradable hand cleaner to remove the crude from the waterlines as this was where the oil attached itself to the hull the most.
