chain plates

Now for the next situation. These chain plates do not attach to the bulkhead but are on the interior of the hull. The boat is fiberglass and the hull is solid.Access is simply terrible,i have to cut through liners.I replaced them in the rear because the plate which is stainless is attached in a mild steel tee and glassed in.Why these knuckleheads did this is beyond me because after many years water has caused the steel to rust and expand making for a real mess.I guess i`m wondering if i should attack this from the outside or go into the dungeon? Also i do not like the look of outside plates however could this be a better solution after i clean this mess up?

Hard to tell without seeing pictures and a better description. Have you considered molding in carbon fiber chainplates?
