CD 27 deck repair

Looking for some advise as I repair and repaint deck on my Cape Dory. I would like to preserve the fiberglass non-skid areas on the boat. The deck has been painted once prior to my ownership so there is paint over the fiberglass "bumps/nonskid" areas.

How do I remove and repaint these factory fiberglass areas? Thought of paint remover (non toxic brand) and then painting.

Thank you

Doug
