It's in the forward and center bilge. Kind of glass, plastic like crumbles? Mixed with an oily goo, not much in front of boat except the head and holding tanks in v-berth, substance doesn't smell though.

Also the first dried up picture is not where near the head but closer to the hot water heater

Those are salt crystals and dried up dirty bilge water concentrate.

Typical square shape of salt crystals. I don't think there's a continuous leak of much volume, or there would be liquid water. I would clean it up and observe. One way would be to place some dry paper in suspected locations and see if one gets wet.

Re: Can anyone tell me what is this substance?

It takes salt crystals a while to form like that... some pool that evaporated and then actually moisture in the air helps them grow later too. Is there something rusty it may have come from that gave it the color? I agree, mop it up and see if anything reappears. I see no cause for alarm. It may have dripped down from some leak above through lining or something, (maybe hull/deck joint?) after some hard day of sailing and just sat for a month or two.

Re: Can anyone tell me what is this substance?

Ive been following this forum for a few years now but just joined up, and thanks for the input everyone, I've just sold the house and everything in it just before the snow began to fall in The mountains...moved to the beach, purchased and moved onto my first sailboat...less than two weeks at this time, so everything is a real head scratcher at this point but I'm learning, usually the hard way. Lol

I will mop it tomorrow and monitor the situation from that point on. Thanks again

There are places on my boat that only admit seawater when we go to windward in strong wind and big seas.
