cal 20 - old boat new owner - trying to restore

I just aquired a 1965 Cal 20 and soon discovered a sizeable amount of shoddy workmanship from when a prior owner did some restoration work. I have removed all of the front berth plywood and considering replacing the mast support beam and plywood wall. A question I was hoping to get some help with were the original dimensions/layout of the plywood. I am able to use the old cubby aft of the head to determine the elevation, just wondering if there were any particular nuances about where to place any bulkheads. Also wondering if any of you have an opinion regarding supports post instead of the bulkhead separating the front berth area from the rest of the boat?
