Cable thru hull

My boat has this coax cable coming out of the hull. I suspect it went to a TV antenna. As you see - it's coming out of a drilled hole that was caulked.

Ok - what is the correct why to do this?

From the pic,I am 99% sure that cable is RG58 or RG8 type coax used for VHF frequencies &/ or Loran C/GPS .
The connector is a PL259 with a UG175 or 6 reducer.
The mount is one half of a SS ratchet mount.

The proper way to bring any cable out thru a hull is to use a watertight "passthrough" fitting. There are various kinds of fittings available for this purpose-see link : Marine Cable Pass Throughs

Good practice is to provide a drip loop when the cable exits the fitting.
As it is in the pic,water will chase down the cable & attempt to chase right thru the sealant used.
