Broken Tiller Yoke - Please Help

I went out sailing today with my Bayfield 25 the wind wasn't too strong blowing about 15 - 20 Kph, and about 10 mins into it the tiller yoke broke in half. After rushing to drop the sails because I had no steering control, I noticed that the part that attaches the tiller to the rudderpost is what actually broke. It’s a fantastic boat a bit slow but that’s what I like. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement part or am I going to have to fabricate I new part from scratch.

Try Bacon Sails in Annapolis. They sell lots of boat hardware on consignment. Bacon Sails & Marine Supplies
Also, Boaters Resale Shop of Texas, Boaters Resale Shop of Texas

I have done business with both of them and they are reliable. Failing that, try a welding shop. It may cost you a couple of hundred.

Looks like it should be easy to make. A couple of SS plates with a sturdy spacer. Spend some time with a grinder and round the edges and polish. Or if you can find a bronze plate thick enough. I won't have that nice cast look but should be sturdy and serviceable.

I seem to recollect that Edson has the parts as well.
