You should stop looking down on her. Yes she is a keeper, unless she takes off with someone who will help her rather than watch and take pictures of her.

yep, I know... but in reality I was outside grinding the hull for most of the day. We both worked like dogs for a good long while. I only came in to see how she was doing and make sure she wasn't trapped! couldn't stay in for more than a few seconds because I left my respirator outside! that Amerlock 2 is brutally noxious stuff in a small space... but hopefully it does the trick on the tank.

really, tell us, i have a tank project that i am researching right now....atom voyages (i think that is the name) has a project outlined on his website and im in information gathering mode...would love to know what you are using

Minaret caught it - Amerlock 2, available from PPG. It's touted as an NSF-certified, industrial tank coating. I've used truckloads of Ameron products - mostly the 235 and 240 epoxies, but also the high build primers and Amershield linear polyurethanes. i can't say enough about their products. This was on wood, fiberglass and steel.

Amerlock 2 is a 1:1 mix (easy), and has good coverage. it allegedly has a built in "rust converter" (that's the surface tolerant part) that does what most of the other rust converter type products do - converts the oxides to inert magnetite. It is the standard coating used by the Canadian Military and the Canadian Coast Guard/Dept of Fisheries on their tanks; and I've heard great reports on it's longevity from industrial users too.

Like all coatings, the magic is really in the prep, but the word is that this stuff really works well in sub-optimal application situations - like rusty water tanks.

Ask me in a few years and I'll tell you how it worked out!

She is a good one! My wife loves working on the boat as well. You know you have a good one when your working on the head system and she's still comes back the next day.
