Bottom Stripping/soda Blasting Recommendation

Hi, looking for recommendations of a soda blasting service. Boat is in Michigan and will be bringing it to Florida. Can either travel East coast or inland rivers down. Final destination either Green cove springs or Charlotte harbor.

Thanks

Re: bottom stripping/soda blasting recommendation

Are you trying to get off the old bottom paint or strip the outer layers for a blister repair or just a barrier coat?

If the later after I researched the options I decided to go with a peal instead of soda blasting. Left a much smoother surface, easier to finish and much less prep work before applying the epoxy barrier coats. Also some "experts" say the soda blasting leaves a lot of broken fiber and may promote new water ingress into the layup leading to more blisters down the road.

Also a lot less messy than blasting.

If you opt for the peal I can recommend Brian at Yachtbottoms. He works out of NE FL and could probably do the work at Green Cove.

I have a sand blasting attachment that goes on the end of my pressure blaster wand.I can use sand or soda to blast paint or rust off anything.I will be using it on my striker 37 hull and deck soon.Heres a link to what i have.It works best with a 3800-4000 psi pressure washer.I blasted the windshield frame off my striker and it only used a 1/4 of a 5 gallon bucket of sand and turned the paint into wet dust.

Re: Bottom Stripping/soda Blasting Recommendation

We just had bottom blasted and then pealed on a '85 Bristol 47.7 by Bennett Brothers in Wilmington. If you have several layers of paint, this is probably the typical approach, in particular where there is some moisture in barrier coat. This yard is very good and would be midway down Coast for you.
