Bottom Paint Suggestions, Please

In about 4 months, we'll be moving our new-to-us boat out of its salt-water environment, into a nice fresh-water lake where it will stay for several years. The boat has been in salt-water all its life, as far as I can tell.

I intend to have a bottom job done while the boat is out for shipping. I'd appreciate any suggestions for a good, hard, durable paint for a boat that will be in fresh water 5 - 6 months a year, and up on jacks the rest of the time. Also any comments concerning bottom preparation for the same, would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

What kind of bottom paint for 5-6 months annually in fresh water? If it was me - none.

Depends on the geographical location... N or S....
If your EU/UK International do a good range of paints... also Hempel.
I'd go for the hard type used for power boats... less pollution at the autumn scrub

There are no hard anti fouling paints that can withstand prolonged exposure to air. If the boat is to be stored on the hard for any length of time (and assuming you do not intend to repaint each season), you are limited to an ablative paint.
