Everything is available in Papeete, there are a couple of haul out yards in the north and some well stocked chandlers you name it they have it......at a cost. Think of a normal price and double it plus a bit.

Why don't you use a French to English translator?

Please note the following message (important).. YOU MUST READ!!!

4 lts Altex no.5 is 24000f @$316 Aud. It’s ablative but in my opinion the best warm water antifoul for the pacific,2 coats two years.

Re: Bottom Paint - in Tahiti

@SimonV and where is it possible to purchase this?
I think I will need hard antifouling as it needs to work with the one I have on right now.

Thanks

Re: Bottom Paint - in Tahiti

I would contact Michel "Bellzer", he speak french-english-german-spanish, and is the most knowlegeable boat guy on the island, and has pretty much everything at the best price...I always start with him, if not, he'll tell you what to find and where...and he's 50ft from the dinghy dock at Marina Taina. for anti-fouling I believe he has Hempel and another brand...luckily not much growth in Tahitian lagoon, just a bit of algea, so a hard one does the job...!!

Re: Bottom Paint - in Tahiti

What he said, contact Michael.

Michael's chandlery is at the Taina Marina just south of Papeete, but to haul out you'll need to go to Port Phaeton at Teavaro, about 30M to the EES - it's on the west side of the isthmus between the two halves of Tahiti.

I'd be surprised if Altex No 5 was available in Tahiti (I think it is only available in Aust and NZ). Have you included freight in your calculations? (It is a very, very heavy paint)
(10L in Australia cost over $AUD500)

Altex No 5 is not a hard anti-fouling and you would probably need about 10L-15L for a 34ft yacht. (Coverage is about 5m2 and they recommend 2 coats)

I had to put the first coat of No5 on the same day as the last coat of barrier coat went on.
