Re: Bottom Paint Color?

"That being said, I have never seen any difference in anti fouling performance between colors of a given product line. Pettit Trinidad green works just as well as red, blue or black."

That's my experience as well. There isn't a big difference in copper content. If I recall right the Red Trinidad has 75% copper and the colors about 68%. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd walk down stairs and read the can labels.

Re: Bottom Paint Color?

Call me a wimp, but I don't like black a/f because it's spookier than the lighter colours when under the boat giving it a scrub.

Doesn't red make it go faster?

Re: Bottom Paint Color?

Used to be Petit Trinidad Red had the highest copper content on the market. No longer so (unfortunately imhop). I always ran Trinidad Red as a main bottom paint for max antifoul, with a 12" stripe of black just below the bootstripe. This was to hide the "sludge-line" picked up in many third-world harbors.

These days we paint with whatever is available at the time.

Re: Bottom Paint Color?

We went with white...or after a year yellowish/green...The diver loves us. I love the white. Need to try new type of paint next time. This one is not very effective.
