bottom paint again

We used micron extra one year ago and its failing fast. Can't find Trinidad petit anywhere in Malaysia or Thailand so we will probably try micron 66.While looking around for paint we came across a statement that we should use black bottom paint as it always less growth than other colours, any truth in that?
Cheers Ian & Alison

None whatsoever.

Micron 66 is an excellent product BTW. Not going to last as long as Trinidad, but excellent nonetheless.

Re: bottom paint again

The good thing about black bottom paint is that most forms of growth don't show up well against black... so you think your bottom is cleaner than it really is! May be why the "black is better" rumour got started.

I've been using a Hempel self-polishing anti fouling for a number of years. It's good. Comes in a five litre can.
