Hi linley,

Depending on use (hire vs private) but it falls into the same as a powerboat
there is a lot of info on NSW maritime, but by visiting the dept you can get an accurate defination of your vessel, they do have some differing rules for boats in freshwater rivers and catchments (these needed special permits and could not be antifouled) while you are at the dept check what license you require to operate the vessel as well (you may be suprised)

Other states vary in rulings.
