Boat on Dry

Been looking at a boat thats been on the dry from 2004.
Any things you can worn me about.
Things that can be hidden expences.

Big question. Why are you limiting yourself to boats that are hauled out? A test sail is definitely something you want to do before buying.

Might have had a few bubbles that have dried out due to long time ashore.

Engine probably not been run up for last 4 years

If it has a narrow fin keel, I would get a surveyor to give the area of the keel a VERY thorough inspection. It is not designed to sit on the keel.

My first question would be "where was it stored"? We dry stored for several years (6 month at a time) in San Carlos, Mx and never had a problem. That said we did know several cruisers who left their boats for more than a year and had to rebuild almost every system that had rubber seals or diaphrams. If the engine and head were flushed and left with fresh water in them you are probally ok.
If the boat was stored in a tropical area insted of desert you will have all those issues as well as mold.
