Blood on the deck?

My Cal 27 gets this red liquid that seems to ooze up through the cockpit sole. I wash it off and a few days later it appears again.



The location where the red substance appears is over the 1GM10 Yanmar. The batteries are off to the port side of the center line.

The fuel tank is near the back end of the cockpit, no where near the stains.

Anybody have an idea what it could be?

FYI, the boat is on the hard and the engine has not been started this year.

Have you tested for soft core beneath those spots? Tapped with a little hammer, or pressed with your thumb, that sort of thing?

What's above that spot.

It looks like it could be tannin leaching out od timber.
