Black Tar Paint.

Any steel boat owners have any exsperience using a two pack black tar paint. I'm thinking of using it in our anchor locker . Or any other coatings that have been succesful in the anchor locker . Last time we used a 2 pack epoxy primer but the rust has come back . Also has anyone tried using Jotun Vinaguard 88 as a rust protector as i hear it is very wateproof.

coal tar epoxy is a very effective coating, provided the surface is prepped properly.

Coal Tar epoxy is extremely efficient at preventing the progression of rust. Two caveats: you have to grind to bare steel and if you overcoat it, it will bleed thru - so be prepared to live with a black locker.
